Hisense Roku TV No Sound

The TV cache needs to be cleared to fix a Hisense Roku TV without sound. To begin, press the ‘Home’ button five times, followed by the ‘Up arrow’ button once, ‘Rewind’ twice, and ‘Fast forward’ twice on the remote control. You will be able to hear the sound again after the TV restarts.
This combination of keys has proven successful in resolving sound issues on Hisense Roku TVs. There are, however, many other proven methods for fixing this problem, which I will show you.
1. Clear Hisense Roku TV Cache
If the sound on your Hisense Roku TV does not work, the first thing you should do is to clear the cache using the remote control’s special key combination.
All your settings and installed channels will remain intact when you clear your cache instead of resetting your TV. It’s risk-free; there’s nothing to lose.
The following key combinations can be used to restore audio on a Hisense Roku TV if there is no sound:
- Go to the Home dashboard first
- Your TV remote’s ‘Home’ button should be pressed five times
- Your remote should be set to ‘Up arrow’ once you press it
- Double-click the ‘Rewind’ button
- Double-click on ‘Fast forward’ to finish
You should now be able to hear the Hisense Roku TV sound again after a few seconds of shutting down and booting up your TV. You should be able to complete this whole process in 1-2 minutes.
2. Restart Your TV
You can also power cycle a Hisense Roku TV if it doesn’t have sound. You are also clearing your TV’s cache with this soft reset.
The following steps will guide you through power cycling your Hisense Roku TV:
- Unplug the TV directly from the power outlet while it’s on
- Wait 30 seconds before plugging it back in
- Turn on the TV now that it has been plugged back into the power source
It shouldn’t experience any lag, delay, or intermittent cutouts once the Hisense Roku TV is turned on.
3. Switch Audio Output Mode
In addition to the audio output settings, Hisense Roku TVs often have problems with sound. In Roku TVs, the output mode (whether you use an internal speaker or a sound bar) and supported mode are automatically detected by the TV. The sound sometimes fails to work due to this failure.
You will then need to manually change the audio output mode. The following steps will show you how to set up Hisense Roku TV to do that:
- Click on Settings > Audio
- Switch ‘Audio Output’ from ‘Audio Detect’ to ‘PCM-Stereo’
- Your Hisense Roku TV’s sound issue should now be resolved
If Auto passthrough does not work, try switching to other audio output options available one after another. PCM-Stereo or Auto passthrough should work for most Roku TV owners using a soundbar.

4. Reset Audio/Picture Settings
You may experience several sound issues on your Hisense Roku TV if the audio settings are messed up, including intermittent drops in sound and audio out of sync with the picture. Your audio settings can be reset to factory defaults in such cases.
It is important to note that you are not resetting the entire Roku device, only the audio settings.
If you are having sound issues with your Hisense Roku TV, you can reset the audio settings by going to Settings > System > Advanced System Settings > Factory Reset > Reset TV audio/picture settings . To reset the Roku TV audio settings to factory default, press the Play/Pause button three times. You should now be able to hear again.
Once the audio settings have been restored to their defaults, you’ll see a popup confirming that they have been restored. Your Hisense Roku TV should now have sound. If not, move on to the next tip.
5. Switch Off Volume Mode
When your Hisense Roku TV doesn’t have a working sound, I’m asking you to switch the volume mode off. You can also fix this problem by switching the volume mode off.
Changing the volume mode on your Roku TV does not mean turning down the volume. A Roku TV’s volume mode improves sound quality, but it is not necessary for the sound to work.
Among the options is Automatic Volume Leveling, which reduces jarring audio levels when commercials come on or when switching channels. With its ‘Night Mode,’ you can watch late-night TV without disturbing others by reducing the volume when loud scenes are on, and boosting it when quiet ones are on.
There are, however, some audio formats that do not support volume modes.
Stereo streams may be converted from surround sound formats such as Dolby Digital, DTS, Dolby Digital Plus, or Dolby ATMOS when using volume modes. Roku devices connected to audio/video receivers or soundbars may need volume modes set to ‘Off’ to hear surround sound.
To turn it off, follow these steps:
- You can do this by clicking the star button.
- Click ‘Sound Settings
On some channels, the star (*) button will serve a different purpose, and the click will not take you to the audio menu as shown below. Whenever this happens, you can switch to the Roku Channel and follow the instructions from there on how to proceed.
- Switch off ‘Volume Mode’
- Hisense Roku TV sound should start working once the audio output is turned off.
This will also fix any audio problems you’re having with Hisense Roku TV, including Hulu, Netflix, Disney Plus, and YouTube TV.
6. Update Your Hisense Roku TV Software
Your Hisense Roku TV’s sound may not work if you don’t update Roku OS software, and check the version.
You can check and update your Roku software by following these steps:
- On your Roku device remote, click on the Home button
- Go to Settings > System > System Update
- You can manually check for updates by clicking on Check Now
Once a software update is available, it will be downloaded, installed, and rebooted automatically.
If you want to use this method, you need to connect your Roku device to the internet. Alternatively, you can update manually.

7. Check HDMI & Internet Connections
Audio issues on your Hisense Roku TV can also be caused by a poor internet connection or HDMI connection.
Your Roku device needs to be connected to the internet and the signal strength needs to be checked first.
- You can check this by going to Settings > Network > About, and making sure it shows ‘Connected’.
- The signal strength will also be displayed on the same page. Is it ‘Poor’, ‘Good’, or ‘Excellent’?
Having a bad network connection or a poor signal strength may cause your Hisense Roku TV’s sound not to work.
- Click on Check Connection at the end.
As soon as you turn on your Roku device, it will begin checking your Wi-Fi and Internet connections.
As soon as the check is complete, you should see a message stating ‘Connection check was successful’
You may need to check your network router and re-set up the connection if the connection check did not succeed.
Check that your ethernet cable is properly plugged in if you’re using it.
Last but not least, ensure the HDMI cable is properly connected.
If the HDMI port currently being used is faulty, you can also switch it. Try a different HDMI cable as well if possible.
8. Reset Hisense Roku TV to Factory Settings
Hisense Roku TVs can also be reset to factory settings to fix audio issues. Having to lose all your apps and configurations is the only reason why I placed it lower on the list.
To fix sound issues on your Hisense Roku TV, follow these steps:
- On the Roku remote, click the Home button
- Choose Settings from the scroll bar
- You can reset your system by selecting System > Advanced system settings
- Click on ‘OK’ after entering the TV code
Alternatively, you can use the physical reset button on the TV to reset your Hisense Roku TV without the remote control. You can do that by following these steps:
- Using a pin or other small object, push the physical reset button on your Hisense Roku TV.
- When your device is powered on, locate the reset button and press and hold it firmly for 10 – 20 seconds. Hold down the reset button until the Hisense Roku TV logo appears after it shuts down. Once the button is released, you can let go of it.
- A factory reset results in the TV rebooting twice before it turns on for the first time.
Roku will now restart as if it were a brand-new device. You will be able to hear the sound again once you finish the configuration.

9. Change to internal speakers
Your Hisense Roku TV may experience audio issues even if you are using internal speakers. Soundbars, surround sound systems, and any other kind of A/V receiver can also cause problems when set up incorrectly.
You can test the sound output source first by disconnecting the external sound system and using the TV’s internal speaker.
- It is most likely the external sound system that is faulty or misconfigured since the audio sync issue is fixed when switching to the internal speakers. While checking this, ensure the TV’s speaker is on. Under Settings > Audio > Speakers, you’ll find that information
- In contrast, if the issue persists after switching to the internal system, your Roku device is the culprit. Alternatively, you can turn off the internal speaker and switch back to the soundbar.
- If your sound bar is the cause of the problem, change the audio output to PCM-Stereo or Auto passthrough. The S/PDIF and ARC settings can be found under Settings > Audio
10. Contact Roku Support
You should now have no lag, delay, echo or intermittent drops in sound from your Hisense Roku TV if you followed all the tips above.
You can, however, contact Hisense Roku for support if the audio issues still persist. 1-888-935-8880 is the official contact number.
