Furthermore, you can put your iPhone in front of a fan to dry it as well as blow cool air into the Lightning port.

The drying process should be completed at least five hours before charging your iPhone. In order to dry your iPhone faster, you should avoid using a blow dryer or compressed air.

The iPhone’s ports should also not be inserted with anything, such as cotton swabs. Rice contains starches and small particles that can get stuck in your iPhone’s ports if you put it in a bowl of uncooked rice. The SIM tray should also be opened after your iPhone has dried completely.

Water will cause the Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) on your iPhone XR to turn red when it gets inside the device. You should be able to see the LCI sticker on the back of the iPhone XR once you remove the SIM card tray.
