In some cases, there may be a number of potential factors as to why a Kenmore Elite refrigerator is not cooling.

  • A frozen evaporator fan was found in a Kenmore refrigerator.
  • There is a problem with the damper control on the Kenmore refrigerator.
  • The defrost thermostat on a Kenmore refrigerator has burned out.
  • The compressor start relay on the Kenmore refrigerator failed.
  • The compressor on the Kenmore refrigerator failed.
  • There is a leak of Freon in the sealed system of a Kenmore refrigerator.

  1. A Kenmore Elite refrigerator is not cooling because the evaporator fan in the freezer has frosted over.

It is possible that the first issue related to a Kenmore Elite refrigerator or fridge not cooling could be related to the evaporator fan in the refrigerator.

There are a number of components that contribute to the cooling of the freezer, and this is one of them.

In the absence of these items, your frozen foods such as ice cream will not be able to stay frozen for as long as you would like.

An overly frosted fan blade can lead to the fan’s motor failing if it is frosted over too much.

Both the freezer and refrigerator sides of your refrigerator may have evaporator fans.

There should be an evaporator fan on the freezer side of the appliance if it has one.

It is impossible to cool a refrigerator compartment with a malfunctioning evaporator fan.

It is well known that the temperature of the refrigerator will rise over time if left shut. (Opening it will result in a dramatic increase in temperature if left open for too long).

Even if the fan malfunctions or stops completely, the freezer may remain cold.

It is important that you give it a test run as soon as you replace it. As a result, you will be able to know that it is functioning properly.

When the motor and fan are working properly, there should be no problem.

  1. The Kenmore refrigerator is not cooling because the damper control is broken.

Damper controls (also known as air diffusers, air dampers, or baffles) allow the refrigerator compartment to cool by controlling how much air comes from the freezer.

When this flap is broken, airflow will be heavily restricted (or even shut down completely). There are, however, some cases where this will result in the Kenmore refrigerator not cooling issue.

You will need to disconnect the refrigerator from the power unit in order to replace it.

(Caution: Always disconnect the refrigerator from the power unit before replacing a defective part).

After finding the baffle or damper, which should be located where cold air enters the refrigeration unit, the next step is to install it.

Styrofoam or plastic should be used for the housing. There may also be a foam seal on the fridge to keep leaks out of the refrigerator.

In some models, you’ll notice a sensor for the temperature built into the light bulb.

The controls will be modified appropriately in the event of increases or decreases in the amount.

Make sure that the bulb is correctly installed and that it is not damaged before replacing the damper.

The control knob will need to be operated so that the attached linkage is free to move.

The next thing you need to do is check the position of the damper on the motor.

A partially or fully closed air replacement inlet baffle will also need to be replaced.

  1. Kenmore refrigerator not cooling because the defrost thermostat or defrost control assembly has failed.

It might be a good idea to test your defrost thermostat if you think it’s malfunctioning.

If you have a multimeter, you should set it to a continuity setting and use it to measure the continuity of the wire.

To test for continuity, make sure that you touch the ends of the wires of the defrost thermostat (disconnected from the refrigerator) with the red and black leads of your multimeter.

You can tell if a circuit is open if the multimeter doesn’t make any noise.

The circuit is closed if you hear a sound, otherwise your heater will stay on and produce more heat (which is not a good thing).

There is a set of numbers on the defrost thermostat that you can see if you hold it in your hand.

Depending on the temperature, this section of numbers represents either opening or closing of the defrost thermostat. (e.g., L 6.7-14.5 C).

There is a “C” at the end of this sequence, which represents Celsius (or, alternatively, an “F”, which represents Fahrenheit).

As soon as the thermostat closes, the freezer’s evaporator will begin to heat up, melting the ice on the thermostat.

The air flowing into the refrigerator compartment will be restricted or cut off if the thermostat fails to melt the ice.

  1. Kenmore refrigerator not cooling due to Compressor Start Relay Failed.

Your refrigerator’s humming noise is caused by the compressor start relay.

When refrigerant is compressed and turned into a liquid state, it is heated as a result.

This heat will be drawn out of the liquid by the condenser. In addition, the refrigerant will be pumped into a chamber to expand.

It’s in this process that the magic happens (i.e. generating cool air for refrigeration).

It is possible that several factors may be causing your refrigerator to fail if you don’t hear that humming regularly.

Changing a defective unit requires disconnecting the fridge from the power supply since it transfers electric current. It is also possible that this may also be one of the reasons why there is a Kenmore refrigerator not cooling problem.

The good news is that installing a replacement part shouldn’t take any more than 15 minutes for the job to be completed.

  1. The compressor on the Kenmore refrigerator failed.

The compressor disperses cold air in the refrigerator compartment by pumping refrigerant through it.

After being converted to liquid, the refrigerant is then sent through coils to lose the heat it built up during the conversion process.

As a result of a failed compressor, there will be severe restriction or Kenmore refrigerator not cooling issue.

In order to keep everything cool, air flow is what’s needed. So if you don’t have it, the temperature will rise and food will spoil faster.

In the past few years, Kenmore issued a recall regarding an older version of the Kenmore Elite range of washers. (Namely the Kenmore Elite / LG Model 795.7205).

Elite refrigerators suffered from a widespread defect in the compressor unit, which led to a class action lawsuit.

Compressors have failed within the first ten years of use for some customers in the past.

It is imperative to keep in mind that the compressor comes with a five-year warranty.

You can ensure that it will be repaired or replaced if it fails during the warranty period.

You do not want your compressor to fail because it is one of the most important parts of your refrigerator.

It may cost you between $500 and $1000 to replace it. In addition, you will need a professional to do it for you.

Conclusion

There could be a number of reasons why your Kenmore Elite Refrigerator is not cooling properly. This could be one of the six issues mentioned above, or it could be a combination of both.

As a result, it is important for you to do a thorough diagnosis of the actual cause for the Kenmore refrigerator not cooling issue immediately in order to pinpoint the issue.

The issue can be resolved by replacing some parts on your own if the problem is caused by a faulty part.

Fortunately, there are some parts that aren’t as pricey as they used to be. They can be repaired or replaced within fifteen minutes.

In some cases, however, it may be best to leave it to the experts to handle repairs or replacements.

You should contact your local refrigeration experts and schedule an appointment with them if this is the case.

All parts of your Kenmore Elite refrigerator must be in good working order in order for it to last as long as possible.

In order to make sure that the fridge is at the right temperature, it doesn’t hurt to check it every once in a while.

When there is a problem with your refrigerator (i.e. – it is not cooling), it is important that you catch it as soon as possible.
