Bosch Dishwasher E24 Code Error

Bosch Dishwasher E24 Code Error? Here Is How To Get Rid Of It

Posted on December 15, 2022December 15, 2022 by Jay

There is no doubt that Bosch makes high-quality dishwashers that are reliable and durable. In spite of this, wear and tear will still occur over time and will still lead to a variety of problems. When your Bosch dishwasher displays an “E24” error code, it means it is not draining properly. Most of the time, the issue is caused by a clogged filter. If the issue persists after cleaning the filter, the drain hose, drain pump, or drain pump cover are most likely to blame. You can fix Bosch dishwasher E24 code error problem by following these steps.

Reasons for Bosch E24 Error Code:

A Bosch dishwasher has a reputation for being reliable and not breaking down. In spite of the best Bosch dishwasher technology, sometimes your Bosch dishwasher will display an error code, such as E24.

According to Bosch, the E24 error code indicates that the drain filter or pump is blocked, preventing the dishwasher from draining properly. There are, however, other causes of the error, such as a clogged drain hose, kinked hoses, a clogged air gap, or a plugged garbage disposal. However, a false error code may be caused by a fault on the control board if checking these components does not resolve the issue.

How to fix Bosch E24 Error Code:

  1. Clean the filter of the Bosch dishwasher.

You will find the filter at the bottom of your Bosch dishwasher, which is located at the bottom of the dishwasher. In order to locate the filter, you will need to remove the bottom dish rack and the spray arm from the bottom. Moreover, it is necessary to turn the top of the filter in order to remove it from the dishwasher. The dishwasher’s manual will provide instructions on how to remove the filter if it cannot be easily removed. Clean the dishwasher filter with warm soapy water after taking it out. Additionally, make sure the drain pump is working while you are removing the filter.

2. The Bosch dishwasher’s drain pump needs to be checked.

If there is an issue with the drain pump, the dishwasher should display an E24 error code. A clogged drain pump may be the cause of the E24 error code if cleaning the filter fails to resolve it. The Bosch dishwasher E24 error code can also be caused by a loose pump cover.

By removing the filter, you can check and clean the pump cover and pump on most Bosch dishwashers. Wear protective gloves when checking the pump for blockages, as the housing may contain sharp objects, such as broken glass.

It is possible to unclip the pump cover with the help of a teaspoon. If the cover is removed, reach down and check for a blockage under the cover. Make sure that the impeller of the pump is able to turn freely as well. A malfunctioning drain pump would be indicated by an impeller that struggles to turn.

You may also be able to check if the drain pump is working by lifting the float depending on the model of the drain pump. It is located near the filter, which is where the float is located. When you pull the float up, the dishwasher should activate the drain pump if the drain pump is working. When lifting the float, keep your hands away from the drain pump. Continue if the E24 error persists.

You can access the pump by removing the bottom kick plate as described in step 6.

3. A kinked hose in a Bosch dishwasher should be checked.

The E24 error could be caused by a kinked hose preventing the dishwasher from draining. The drain hose must be free of kinks before proceeding with the next step. The drain hose may have a high loop if it’s not connected to an air gap to prevent wastewater from flowing back into the dishwasher. Moreover, it is unlikely that the high loop is causing the E24 problem and is simply necessary to prevent other problems from occurring.

4. The Bosch dishwasher needs to be cleaned.

If the dishwasher still drains, run a cycle with a dishwasher cleaning solution to resolve the Bosch dishwasher E24 error code. You can purchase and use a dishwasher cleaner from Bosch or another similar product. However, white vinegar can also be used to make a cleaning solution and baking soda can be used to unblock any blockages. However, if the dishwasher interior has stainless steel components, avoid using bleach-based cleaning solutions.

Before using a cleaning solution in the dishwasher, you may wish to follow step 5 and disconnect the drain hose.

Baking soda and vinegar can be used to clean:

  1. A dishwasher-safe bowl should be filled with one cup of distilled white vinegar.
  2. The bowl should be placed on the top rack of the dishwasher. When the dishwasher is started, vinegar will drain out when poured directly into it.
  3. Put no dishes or detergent in the dishwasher and run a normal cycle.
  4. Then run a short hot cycle with a cup of baking soda in the dishwasher.

Proceed to the next step if the E24 error code cannot be resolved.

5. The Bosch Dishwasher’s Air Gap / Disposal / S-Trap should be checked.

Under the sink, the dishwasher’s drain hose should be connected to either an air gap, garbage disposal, or S-trap. Additionally, it may be possible to find the blockage that is causing the E24 error if you disconnect the drain hose. However, you may also be equipped to resolve the problem by cleaning the air gap, garbage disposal, or S-trap.

6. Make sure the Bosch dishwasher’s Drain Hose and Drain Pump are in proper working order.

It is possible that the dishwasher’s drain hose may be blocked where it connects to the drain pump if the above solutions did not resolve the E24 error code. Moreover, it is also possible for the drain pump to be obstructed or defective. However, an E25 error code should appear if the drain pump is defective.

It is also possible to remove the dishwasher hose and clean it thoroughly to remove any blockages. Check for any other issues that might indicate a defective control board that’s causing the E24 error before you remove the drain hose.

The drain hose and drain pump can be accessed as follows:

  1. Turn off the dishwasher’s water supply and disconnect the power for safety.
  2. At the bottom front of the dishwasher, remove the screws holding the kick panel in place.
  3. Wiring harnesses can be removed if necessary.

Make sure the drain pump is working:

It is possible for the drain pump to fail to drain the dishwasher if something obstructs it or if the pump motor fails. Moreover, check the pump for obstructions and make sure the impeller turns freely. It is likely that the drain pump will need to be replaced if the impeller on it does not turn freely. In addition, you can test the drain pump’s continuity with a multimeter by using the ohms setting or by removing it from the dishwasher. However, it will be a necessity to replace the motor if the continuity test reveals a negative result.

The drain pump should be checked to fix Bosch dishwasher E24 Error Code:

  1. Find the drain hose and connect it to the drain pump. It is also possible to check for blockages in the recirculation hose on most models.
  2. Any water that may spill from the hose should be caught with a towel or container.
  3. Take apart the drain hose from the drain pump by removing the wire clamp with pliers. Make sure the blockage is cleared using a drain snake.
  4. Under the sink, if required, detach the drain hose.
  5. Drain hose soap buildup can be removed with a drain snake or drain cleaning tool.
  6. Dishwasher drain hose should be returned.

We hope that the issue with the Bosch dishwasher error code E24 has now been resolved. There is a possibility that the control board may be defective if the error persists. You can resolve the issue with Bosch dishwasher with the help of a trained professional.
